TAMALES!

During training camp in late December, JM hosted a tamale-making party. It was so much fun. And sooooo yummy. We made a ton of tamales while watching Mrs. Doubtfire, (at my suggestion obviously) It was awesome because I make tamales with my best friend Eric's family every Christmas, but I haven't been able to do it the past 2 years because I have to be at school during Christmas break for swim camp. It was so sentimental, so nostalgic, and I had no idea tamales could have that type of effect on anyone. It reminded me of my friends waiting for me at home. Making and having familiar food while I was away at home helped me cope with the stress and exhaustion of training camp. I was able to take my mind off the loneliness and homesickness for the night.
